The Sallandse Heuvelrug

As you have probably already seen, our site is located at the foot of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. This is a large nature reserve between Hellendoorn and Holten. Here you will find a wide variety of plants and animals, including the last grouse population in the Netherlands.

The park has different landscapes with forest, heather, sand drifts and peatland. The ridge consists of seven hills, although their name would suggest they are mountains. The most famous are: the Holterberg and the Lemelerberg. More information about the Sallandse Heuvelrug can be found on this website.

In addition, there are also extensive hiking trails, horse trails and ATB routes. If you fancy a sporty day, feel free to ask about the various options and route maps.

The Regge

The village of Hellendoorn is located on the river Regge in the Reggedal. The Regge has been restored to its original state, making it a dynamic river, which meanders as it did in the old days. The area around the Regge is particularly attractive for people, plants and animals, so go and enjoy the surprising silence and the stunning natural beauty.

The Regge offers countless possibilities for a wonderful day of rest, but also for an active afternoon. You can rent kayaks or canoes at various places, like Schuilenburg or De Wilgenweard. It is also possible to go out on the water with a whisper boat. This way you can enjoy the natural beauty in silence, but you don't have to work up a sweat. The beautiful view over the farmlands and forests is soothing for everyone, so feel free to ask about the possibilities. Fishermen can also indulge themselves, because the water in the Regge is clean and clear and the fish stock is excellent.
